Deborah has an extraordinary talent to untangle issues and suggest reasonable and doable remedies. She has a passion for service and helping others -- whether personal or professional. Her innate abilities to listen without judgment, coupled with her critical thinking skills and empathetic spirit are excellent attributes for providing life changing alternatives. Ms. Williams has over 20 years of employee counseling and mediation experience. She finds it immensely gratifying to help others achieve their goals.  Deborah is a graduate of Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC with studies in psychology. "Now," she says, "let's see what's going on here."

Lead Case Management Court Services

Cyrena has over 20 years as lead in case management and mentoring coworkers and families. She is an active member of The National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI)  and mentors troubled youth within the Washington DC Metro area. Her warm, welcoming and empathetic nature is a comfort to everyone she encounters. As a single parent, Cyrena graduated from the University of Maryland University College with a Masters in Criminal Justice Management and a Masters in Business Administration. She says, "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have."

Yasheka has a MA in Marriage & Family Counseling from Liberty University, VA. Chynna's personal focus is on her family and her community. She is active in her church where she donates her time weekly to tutoring and mentoring inner city children and young adults.  Chynna earned her Masters of Science Degree from Stratford University, graduating Magna Cum Laude and is  a member of Alpha Kappa Mu National Honors Society. "Of course I will volunteer counseling services to your nonprofit."

Frank is our subject matter contributor for single dads.  Unexpectedly Frank had the responsibility of raising 4 boys to maturation. He did so successfully. He wants to share his experiences; the pluses and minuses and challenges he faced and how he overcame them. "Every situation is different," he says, "you just do what you have to do for the sake of the kids."

She’s a deeply committed, tireless advocate for marginalized populations, who strive to improve the quality of life for underprivileged youth and famil​ies.  Akilah graduated with a B.A. in Communications from Virginia State University. “I would love to contribute to the success of Alternate Directions by utilizing my skills and abilities to meet the needs of the community”

Nursing Professional/Instructor

Kimberly has over 25 years in nursing. Kimberly prepares single parents and others for certification in the health field for career enhancement and advancement.  She is a Certified Master Trainer for the Virgin​ia Board of Nursing.  She is also a Certified Master Trainer for Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in the Gerontology Department and in the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.
